Dan and Catherine Roberts have grown tobacco and vegetables in Madison for years. Dan is a full time farmer who is interested in experimenting with Irish potato production for the local market. The Roberts' family has a passion for the land, community and actively shares their passions with all who purchase local produce from them.

Expected income from Irish potato production $10.000 in 2005.

Because of this grant "We will be able to transition from lost tobacco income into full time vegetable and livestock production."

With the support from NC Cooperative Extension agriculture agents, Ross Young, David Kendall and Elizabeth Tolley this project has the potential to replace lost tobacco income.
