The Dillingham family is the eighth generation to work the land and find solutions to create a living from the land. The whole family has invested in the new venture to produce wine grapes for the Biltmore Estate Winery. The support from the NC Cooperative Extension and Biltmore Estate Winery is an example of community supported economic development. Through the use of grant funding the Dillingham family will offset start up costs to purchase shipping bins for wine grapes and purchase chemical sprays for pre-harvest.

Expected income from 7 tons of grapes in the next two years is $8,400.

Because of this grant "We were able to jump start our vineyard operation which will allow us to maintain our family land and leave a profitable agricultural operation for the next generation."
