Harold and Nancy Long are interested in learning and experimenting with the production of medicinal herbs. The Long's have researched the increasing market demand for medicinal herbs in our country, and with the support of the 2005 WNC Ag Options grant program they will purchase seed for production. Medicinal herbs are part of the solution for economic develop in Western NC, a tobacco dependent community.

Expected income is $5,000 over the next 5 years.

Because of this grant "I will be able to take the financial risk to experiment with the production of medicinal herbs."
