Flowers & Herbs;
Ornamentals/Nursery Plants

Dianne Tolman, owner of Big Pine Native Gardens in Madison County, is making her native plants & herbs business self-sufficient so that she relies little on other businesses for propagation materials.

With the grant, she purchased materials and created marketing materials to participate in the spring Asheville Herb Festival at the WNC Farmer's Market. She continues to improve her operation with the additional income.

"The grant allowed me to purchase the seed, propagation material, soil and plants to push me up to a level so that I can get out there and actually sell," Dianne said. "If not for this grant, my participation at the herb festival wouldn't have happened."
