Edgar Wood, co-owner of Wood Farm in Cherokee County, is a corn, soybean & pumpkin grower who is diversifying his farm with grass-finished beef cattle.
He is renovating his pasture and establishing facilities to raise the cattle.
A portion of his grant includes educational workshops for area farmers.

"The grant has given us the seed money to initiate a new venture," Eddie said. "Plus, the way the program was set up, it caused us to put more thought into it. The project requires research and thought, and it had to be approved by other experts."
