Beekeeping

Mike Singleton of Haywood County is expanding his beekeeping operation so that he can provide beekeepers with a source of colonies. He attracts customers throughout the Eastern U.S., who find him through online beekeeping resources.

With his grant, Mike purchased boxes for his nucleus colonies, drone mother queens, breeder queens and other supplies necessary for starting a sustainable production yard.

"This grant allowed me to expand my apiary using 5-frame nucs that will be used to sell queens and start hives that I can sell to beekeepers," Mike said.
