Greenhouses & Buildings; Fruits & Vegetables; Season Extension

Robin Smith, owner of Bee Log Berries & Produce of Yancey County, is installing a greenhouse so that she can increase the production of vegetable plant transplants. The greenhouse is a vital piece of her small but growing operation.

She primarily sells to local restaurants, whose chefs request her to grow particular vegetable varieties for their recipes.

"This grant is going to allow us to put up our greenhouse which will facilitate increased crop production of heirlooms," Robin said.
