Beef Expansion - $6,000

The Lamberts, who grew tobacco in the 1970s, have raised livestock since the 1980s. With their award, they will expand their small grass-fed beef operation by clearing brush, adding fence, seeding forages and establishing irrigation.

They will also renovate a barn for appropriate cattle & hay storage. They will increase the size of their herd, adding a heritage breed, Belted Galloway. The Lamberts plan to market their beef to the local community, and in the long-term, start a breeding program.
