$6,000 - Dairy Goat Farm

To obtain an N.C. dairy license, the Bufords are building a milking room and processing room, equipped with a pasteurizer, stainless steel appliances and cooler/freezer. They raise Nubian and LaMancha dairy goats to make goat milk soap, lotion and cheese.

This project is allowing the Bufords to qualify as a farmstead and market the goat cheese to the public (at restaurants, health food stores & tailgate markets) so that both Will and Tambra can work full-time on the farm. Currently, Henderson County has no licensed farmstead goat dairy.
