$6,000—Home Delivery or Farm Pick Up
Frank and Jeanette are expanding their on-line ordering and home delivery marketing system. The purchase of a walk-in freezer and Cool-Bot air conditioner, which they will use to construct a cooler, eliminates the time and expense of travel to off-site freezers.
They are also printing brochures and postcards and paying for a sponsorship to become a preferred vendor at Biltmore Lake. In addition, the Wilsons are establishing high demand crops, including blueberry, black raspberry and blackberry bushes and various flowers.
With these improvements, Frank and Jeanette are realizing significant savings as well as growing their list of customers. Several Hominy Valley Farms customers pick up their food at the farm, which strengthens relationships between consumers and farmers as well as develops the public’s sense of belonging to the farm.
Hominy Valley Farms is a multi-generational farm, established in 1934. See http://www.hominyvalleyfarms.com/
