Production of Traditional, Specialty and Heirloom Pumpkins and Winter Squash
Anthony is expanding his pumpkin operation with the purchase of a no-till planter unit and air blast sprayer. He is planting into managed wheat residue in his farm’s bottomland soils (French silt loam) and killed fescue/orchard grass sod in the upland location (Brevard clay loam). He tends 25 varieties in 2.5 acres.
Anthony’s goal is to offer a quality, blemish-free product and a diverse selection of pumpkins and winter squash to his customers. Markets include: roadside customers, WNC Farmer’s Market at Asheville, grocery stores, and elementary school fundraiser projects.
