Grady “Bob” Johnson, Jr., Tucker Hollow Farms

$6,000 — Bedding and Propagating Greenhouse

Bob Johnson will add a dedicated bedding and propagation greenhouse to his existing operation. The new greenhouse will allow his farm to extend the growing season for vegetable production and sales through November and will allow them to be the first farm in Avery County to sell their own superior high yield blueberry bushes. The project will also give them the capacity to expand their market regionally to the surrounding counties of Mitchell, Yancey and Watauga, and into neighboring Carter County in Tennessee. The grant will pay for the greenhouse, its foundation and electrical hookup, trays, containers and growing media, shelving, signage and advertising.
