To increase farm profits and open up new markets, Paul will be adding grain bins and a grain elevator to his farm. Grain storage is critical for getting the highest price possible as prices fluctuate throughout the year. Right now, Paul must sell straight from the field when his corn, soybeans and wheat are ready and cannot hold grain to sell when prices are at a premium. With the grant, he will add a concrete pad, an elevator, downspout, electrical wiring and grain bins. This addition to the farm will not only increase his income by more than $2/bushel, it will contribute to the long-term sustainability of his farming operation.
