Are there more awards for farmers available?
In 2009, $3,000, $6,000 and $9,000 awards are available for farms demonstrating economic viability throughout an 18-county/unit area: Avery, Buncombe, Clay, Cherokee, Cherokee Indian Reservation of WNC, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga and Yancey. If you're interested in applying, contact your local County Extension Agent by December 1, 2008. Application postmark deadline is January 23, 2009.
